Lakewood Schools Close Playgrounds, Fields To Public
The district closed all of its playgrounds and playing fields to the public this week.

LAKEWOOD, OH — The Lakewood School district is closing all of its playgrounds and fields to the public, the district announced this week. Gov. Mike DeWine ordered playgrounds closed this week to prevent the further spread of the new coronavirus, COVID-19.
The district said its playgrounds and fields would be closed indefinitely. DeWine issued a general stay-at-home order on Sunday and its policies went into effect statewide on Monday night.
"Thank you for understanding as we strive to keep our community safe and healthy," the Lakewood Schools said in a statement.

Parks in the city and around the county remain open, but visitors are encouraged to practice social distancing protocols to stymie the spread of COVID-19.
The COVID-19 outbreak has led to significant changes in the Lakewood community. After the governor ordered all bars and restaurants to close to the public (except for carry-out or delivery services), Lakewood officials launched a small business assistance program.
