Here are the top stories for today:
1. Athens police are investigating a death. Zach Shrivers of WTAP reports that an altercation happened in a parking lot on Saturday. A victim died from injuries sustained from the incident. This is still under investigation. (WTAP)
2. The Washington County Veterans Service Commission has dedicated their building to the late great Chad Wright. They held their ceremony on Memorial Day in honor of his service to the country, and the community. (Patch)
3. The Marietta Aquatic Center is open for business. Marietta Mayor Josh Schlicher took to Facebook yesterday to remind folks that the newly renovated aquatic center is ready for families to come and have fun in the sun. (Facebook)
4. The Washington County Sheriff's Office will be auctioning off firearms late next week. For a list of the guns and miscellaneous items to be bid on click here. (Patch)
Marietta Community Calendar:
- Henderson Hall Sightseeing on Tuesday, June 1st. This will start at the Valley Gem Landing where you will board the boat and depart at 10:30 a.m. for the Henderson Hall landing. There you will disembark and ride the trolley to the Henderson Hall grounds and tour. More details here.
- There will be a storage auction on Thursday, June 3rd. They will be auctioning off abandoned storage locker contents. More details here.
- First Friday: Art Walk. Marietta Main Street will be holding their First Friday event downtown. This will be a celebration of the community for locals, tourists, and area groups to show off the beautiful downtown of Marietta. More details here.
