Early voting in Washington County is underway: Todd Baucher of WTAP reported that voting in next month’s primary has already begun. Early voting started on April 6 and more than 100 people have already cast their ballots. There are contested races for Belpre Auditor and city council. There are also a number of levies on the ballot. May fourth is the primary election day for those wanting to vote in person.

Sweet Corn Festival canceled: Mitchell Blahut of WTAP reports that the Sweet Corn Festival won’t be returning to Marietta until 2022. Organizers of the festival say that even though the event isn’t normally until July, they are canceling the event out of an abundance of caution. They say the safety of the community is their first priority.
Marietta College volleyball advances in OAC Tournament: On Tuesday night, Marietta College’s volleyball team beat Heidelberg University’s 3-1. Marietta was seeded #4, Heidelberg was seeded #5. Marietta College will face off against the #1 seeded Muskingum Thursday at 7 p.m. in the conference semifinals.

The Marietta Water Department is moving forward with a massive painting project: Brett Wharff and Jacob Krantz of WMOA report that a rehabilitation and painting project on the 2,000,000 gallon East Norwood Reservoir will start this month. This will put the tank out of commission for 60-days. This will not disturb the local water supply unless there is a mechanical failure or issue with booster stations.
