May's First Friday is around the corner: Marietta Main Street is working hard to put together this month's First Friday event. On May 7th between 5 pm and 9 pm downtown Marietta will be buzzing. Shops will be open late, there will be activities for the whole family. There will be fun fundraising activities, all proceeds go to support public art projects in downtown Marietta.

National Correctional Officer Week: The Washington County Sheriff's Department just posted that it's National Correctional Officer Week. First started by President Ronald Reagan in 1984, the first week in May honors jail guards. The Sheriff's Department says they want to recognize all correctional officers who exemplify professionalism, integrity, and strength in the face of a difficult, and often dangerous, work environment. They put out a big thank you to all guards, past or present, at the Washington County Jail.
Marietta College golf teams wrap up OAC Championship games: On Sunday, the Marietta College men's golf team came in fifth overall at the OAC Tournament. Gage Herb and Carson Fox both earned All-OAC honors. The Marietta College women's golf team came in eighth overall. Alyssa Shawger earned All-OAC honors with her top 10 finish in the tournament.

Marietta College sports postponed: Due to weather, Marietta College baseball and softball games are going to be postponed. The softball team had a doubleheader scheduled Monday against Otterbein University, this has been moved to Tuesday. The Etta Express was set to play a doubleheader against Otterbein Monday as well, this has been moved to Wednesday.
