Marietta historical tidbit of the day:
Marietta has been home to a number of successful artists and musicians. Francis MacMillen was, by all accounts, an outstanding violinist. He was born in 1885 to Samuel and Ella McMillen. Samuel owned The Marietta Times until 1890 when he sold it to B.J. McKinney. MacMillen's parents took him overseas to help him pursue higher training. He returned to Marietta a number of times for professional performances. He died in 1973.
