Marietta Main Street's flower program grows: Brett Wharff of WMOA reports that this year 350 flower baskets will be installed throughout Marietta. Marietta Main Street is working to raise $20,000 for the baskets and the six-hours of labor a day that go into caring for them. It costs $75 to sponsor a basket and they can be sponsored in honor or memory of someone.

A Gallia County woman is sentenced for killing her daughter: Dennis Bright and Phyllis Smith of WTAP report that Joyceann Louise Ruane of Crown City was sentenced to life in prison Thursday. She admitted to putting together a plan, got a gun, and shot her 16-month-old child after an argument with her child's father. The sheriff said it was the most horrific and tragic case of his career. She does not have the option of parole.

Marietta College soccer dominates: On Thursday the Marietta College men's soccer team beat Muskingum University 2-1. They're now tied for second in their conference with a 6-2-0 record. The Marietta College women's soccer team also picked up a W against Muskingum University. They won 2-0. That improves their record to 2-4-2.
