Marietta's DORA Is Open For Buisiness

MARIETTA, OH — Marietta's DORA (designated outdoor refreshment area) is now open. Starting now on Friday and Saturday evenings, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., folks can get an alcoholic beverage from any one of a number of establishments in downtown Marietta, then go on a stroll. They have to stay within certain boundaries, but they're able to go into other downtown establishments that are marked DORA friendly.

City officials worked hand in hand with Marietta Main Street and local businesses to make this happen. Christie Thomas is Marietta Main Street's Executive Director. She says tonight there are only five businesses able to sell drinks in the signature DORA cups. "We have 5 bars doing DORA tonight. We have the Marietta Brewing Company, Over The Moon Pizza, 740 Social, Donatos on Third Street, and The Original Pizza Place on Second Street."

Thomas invites folks to come downtown, grab a DORA drink in a DORA cup, stroll around and sip for First Friday. "At 7:30 we're clinking our glasses down at the Armory with Mayor Josh Schlicher. So we invite folks to join us then."

In one week, next Friday, they will be celebrating another five bars joining the DORA. Those will be Austyn's, The Marietta Moose Lodge, The Galley, The Tiber House Restaurant, and The Town House.

Thomas says come on down, but asks folks to take care of Marietta and respectful of the rules. "Be mindful of the boundaries, and drink reasonably."
