Four Mariettans have served as governor of Ohio. Return Johnathan Meigs, Jr., was the first. He came to Marietta in 1788 after studying law at Yale. He ended up serving as Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court, Ohio Governor, US Senator, and Postmaster General.

- Marietta Police Captain Aaron Nedeff has been promoted to chief! Former Police Chief Rodney Hupp recently retired and Aaron Nedeff had been filling in as acting police chief. But Mayor Schlicher made it official yesterday, Nedeff will be the face of the Marietta Police Department. (WTAP)
- A Nelsonville cop was killed responding to a call. Yesterday, 43-year-old Officer Scott Dawley got into a three-car crash responding to reported gunfire. One person walked away with minor injuries, and one person had to be airlifted. (WOUB)
- Washington County Commission President Kevin Ritter is running for re-election. Yesterday he announced his plans to run again in 2022. He says there is a lot left to do, and he wants to see the Devola sewer project through to the end. (Marietta Patch)
- Both Congressman Bill Johnson and former Congressman Jim Renacci spoke at the Washington County Republican Party headquarters this week. (Marietta Patch)
