Spring is here and... it recently snowed! But, the weather is warming up, and looking ahead, we know May is going to be another great month downtown. It's been a busy year thus far and with the sunshine, things kick up into an even higher gear for our organization and downtown.

Now is the time to plan for summer fun - Marietta is the perfect place to spend the weekend, take a quick getaway, or come visit for a prolonged stay! Our shops are open, our restaurants are open, and our downtown is open with great events planned throughout the summer.

There are a lot of things to be excited about in downtown Marietta. Check below for a few quick updates on our programs, events, and initiatives:

• DORA passed! Thanks to Marietta City Council, our proposal in partnership with Marietta City Administration passed on Thursday, April 29th. We are hopeful that come June, locals and tourists alike can enjoy an alcoholic beverage while strolling along downtown on Friday and Saturday nights from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
• Downtown Dollars, a digital gift card program that supports local, downtown businesses, will launch this month. Downtown Dollars are great for employee recognition, client appreciation, gifts for friends and loved ones, and more. Plus, 100% of the dollars stay local in our downtown community.
• A Downtown Directory on our website is live. We still have a few sections to create and businesses to add but we've launched what we have: Dining, Entertainment, Lodging, and Shopping. Head to our website and see the "Downtown" drop menu to explore.

• Our downtown flower campaign has launched. Click here to sponsor a flower basket downtown and help beautify our district the whole summer through. Less than 100 remain!
• Last month, awarded nearly $5k to downtown property owners to improve their buildings. Improvements include both interior and exterior enhancement like exterior painting and siding, interior painting and carpeting, brick maintenance, and patio upgrades for outdoor dining.
• The ballot for Main Street Awards is live and we need YOU to nominate downtowners across eight categories. Nominations can be made from anyone across Marietta. Click here to learn more and nominate. The deadline is Tuesday, May 4th.
• Our April Downtown Peep Show raised nearly $2,500 for 17 area organizations that participated. We’ve heard great feedback about the Peep Show event and folks hope to do it again next year.
• Our Public Art Committee will soon be launching an online fundraiser & installing a brand new mural downtown. Scroll below for a sneak peek and stay tuned for opportunities to financially support public art projects in downtown Marietta.
