Operation Blue Sky MOV: Chris Schmitt of Patch reports that law enforcement agencies from around the Mid-Ohio Valley capped off National Police Week with a giant procession. Today is Peace Officer's Memorial Day and the idea was to honor all officers who've given their lives in the line of duty. Officers and deputies from across Wood and Washington Counties gathered in the parking lot of Kmart and proceeded to drive a parade route through Marietta, Belpre, Parkersburg, Vienna, and Williamstown. It was called Operation Blue Sky, and folks came out to cheer them on and show their support.

Congressman Johnson votes for the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act: Chris Schmitt of Patch reports that this week Southeast Ohio's US Congressman Bill Johnson voted in favor of the H.R. 1065. This is the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, and it was introduced by a New York Democrat. But clearly, it was a bipartisan bill because Johnson voted for it and it passed the House. If the Senate passes it and it gets signed into law, employers will be required to reasonably accommodate workers and job applicants with pregnancy, childbirth, and related medical conditions.

Etta Express clean sweep: Marietta College reports that their stellar baseball team is about to wrap up their regular season. They swept a conference doubleheader today beating Mount Union twice. The Pioneers won game one 10-0, and the second game 6-3. They now boast a 30-4 overall record. They face off against Mount Union again Sunday for another doubleheader, this to end the regular season.
