News 17 Aug 2026 (washingtoncountysheriff.org) — Recent Washington County law-enforcement reports include a domestic violence warrant through Marietta Municipal Court and a stolen vehicle recovered in the City of Marietta. Deputies also handled an OVI crash on Caywood Road near Marietta and booked several Marietta residents into the county jail on charges ranging from drug offenses to assault.
   

2. Sen. Husted visits Marietta to discuss workforce efforts (wtap.com) — Sen. Jon Husted visited Marietta's Appalachian Ohio Manufacturers' Coalition to talk about expanding local workforce training so more students graduate ready for manufacturing jobs right here in Washington County. He highlighted big growth in career-ready graduates and said these programs are helping young people stay, work, and earn good wages in the Marietta area.
   

3. Lancaster Street Hill repairs expected to be completed by weekend (wtap.com) — Repairs on Marietta's Lancaster Street Hill are expected to wrap up this weekend, with paving planned Friday and the road reopening to traffic Saturday morning if weather cooperates. Crews have already installed new sanitary sewer line, though heavy rain has repeatedly slowed work by flooding the excavation area.
   

4. Farm 2 Table bigger, better (mariettatimes.com subscription) — Community leaders and the Marietta Community Foundation are joining forces to expand the Farm 2 Table program that turns fair livestock purchases into fresh meat for Washington County food pantries. Starting this fair season, buyers can designate animals to Farm 2 Table, while donations and year-round fundraising will help provide more locally raised protein to families in need.
   

5. 2026 John Marshall Monarchs (wtov9.com) — John Marshall High School's 2026 football schedule includes an away game at Marietta on August 28, giving local fans a home matchup to circle. The article also highlights the Monarchs' recent records, coaching history, and key program milestones heading into the new season.
