Marietta historical tidbit of the day:
World War II actually caused a surge of juvenile delinquency in Marietta. Many fathers were off to war, many women were now working and kids were running amok. It was suggested that the police chief institute a curfew law. He noted that the city ran into this problem during World War I, and a curfew law did little to help things then, so he pushed back against it. The problem persisted, and by the summer of 1945 it was so bad that a spokesperson for the probate court said delinquency caseloads were so high it was hard to handle the regular probate work. Plainclothes cops were placed around town to keep an eye on Marietta's troubled youth.
