The signs on Colegate Drive that once read 'Kellys Pet Cemetery Coming Soon' now read 'Janelle is a cancer.'

MARIETTA, OH — The infamously strange signs at 1099 Colegate Drive took a turn today. For weeks there were two signs that read 'Kelly's Pet Cemetary Coming Soon.' There were also a couple of crosses sticking out of the ground, but the soil was clearly undisturbed.

At 12:45 p.m. today the signs claiming to advertise a pet cemetery were gone, only a couple of letters remained on their letterboard. However, just one hour later, the signs had been changed to read 'Janelle is a cancer.' This is an apparent reference to the bombshell article published by Janelle Patterson of The Marietta Times. Patterson outlined a litany of issues that area residents had against the property owner, Bruce Brunton.

This afternoon Brunton was witnessed proudly posing in front of the freshly changed signs with two other gentlemen by his side. When asked for comment on why he changed the signs, and why he believed that Janelle Patterson was a cancer Brunton became irate and screamed repeatedly 'get the hell out of here.'

Patterson's article was first published more than two weeks ago, and the signage at 1099 Colegate Drive hadn't been altered much since then at all. It isn't known why Brunton would only now change his signs, and why he would decide to call out Patterson by name.

Patch has reached out to Janelle Patterson for comment, we will update if we hear back from her.
