Marietta historical tidbit of the day:
In Marietta and other places, women working during World War II made many people very uncomfortable. A "guardian of female virtue" suggested women with no children, whose husbands were overseas, get a job, so they wouldn't fraternize inappropriately with married men. They were often reminded of their obligations to stay faithful and keep the house clean. Marietta College's The Olio had advice for what airmen stationed at the college like. They said that since airmen wear uniforms, they really like feminine women, with soft fluffy formals, elaborate hairdos, and enticing perfume.
