Washington County Home Commissioners Meeting
Here is a breakdown of this month's County Home meeting agenda with Commissioners James Booth and Kevin Ritter.

MARIETTA, OH – Once a month the Washington County Commissioners hold a meeting at the Washington County Home. The county home is a home for the elderly who require or prefer, living assistance. This week they gathered at the county home with administrators for the facility.

Commissioner James Booth said this is the total for the month of March, and it is pretty normal.

3. New Residents: One female (age 19 through Adult Protective Services)
Discharged residents: One female (see above admission – only here one night)
Number of residents on 03-31-21 Female 24, Male 20 Total 44
Booth says the one 19-year-old was only there for one day and was there because of APS. He says this was likely a safe haven situation. Commissioner Ritter says the female was likely kept in a quarantine area, away from the general population. The County Home has had no COVID-19 outbreaks, many say this is due to their rigid adherence to safety policies.

The County Home received about $15,000 more than they had projected for the month of March.
5. Staff Turnover: One (1) Part-time LPN resigned
One (1) Full-time Housekeeping Aide started
This is just reporting staff changes.
6. Mandatory Meningitis vaccine – March 30 (All Residents & Staff)
All residents and staff were vaccinated for meningitis.
7. Meat report (Hickory Hills vs. Gordon Foods)
There is an operational farm at the County Home. This is a report showing how much money they saved by feeding residents meat harvested from cattle raised at their own farm than if they had bought it elsewhere.
8. 1st Quarter Report of Operations
This was a report showing expenditures for the year to ensure the County Home was staying within their budget. They are.
9. Request to apply for Business Credit Card
This was an item requesting the County Home get a business credit card. Some employees had been forced to pay for certain items with a card and had to request reimbursement. As this was a public meeting the issue was broached. It will be revisited at the next public meeting where the commissioners are likely to approve a business credit card.
10. Summer Youth Program
This item is notifying the commissioners that there will be four young individuals working at the County Home as a part of a summer youth program. Two youngsters will be working on the farm, one will be working in housekeeping and one will be working in the kitchen.
11. Partnering with Career Center
Booth says the County Home is in talks with the Career Center to work together a partnership where students will be able to get hands on, real world experience.
12. Roof painting (getting 3 quotes)
There are roofs at the County Home that need maintenance, this is just letting the commissioners know they’re looking for quotes right now.
13. Call light system (getting 3 quotes)
The call light system in the County Home is aging, and no longer reliable. This item is letting the commissioners know that they’re looking into seeing how much it will cost to replace their system.
