Food Historian Sarah Wassberg Johnson will explore the use of Victory Gardens in World War II, including how the idea was publicized. The talk is free to enjoy and will be hosted via Zoom at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 14. Anyone can register for the Zoom link on our website at (440) 255-8811 ext. 247.
Victory gardens are gardens planted either at people’s homes or in public parks during war times. They both provide food and boost morale. They were popular during both World Wars and saw a resurgence last year during the pandemic.

Wassberg Johnson is an author, speaker and educator on all topics related to food history. She’s been featured in The Atlantic, CNN and The History Channel miniseries, “The Food That Built America.”
