• Third annual Headlands Birding Festival returns this weekend (spectrumnews1.com) — Bird lovers in Mentor can enjoy the third annual Headlands Birding Festival this Friday through Sunday at Headlands Beach State Park and nearby Mentor Marsh. The event features guided walks, a Lake Erie birding boat trip, and expert talks on fall migration. Registration is encouraged to reserve spots for specific activities.
   

• Mentor vs. Riverside volleyball: Cardinals push ahead early and often against Beavers (news-herald.com) — Mentor's Cardinals volleyball team extended their win streak to five matches with a road sweep of Riverside on Sept. 15, improving to 5–2. Strong serving, middle hitting, and defense powered the victory, and Mentor now turns its focus to hosting Euclid on Sept. 17 in another key Greater Cleveland Conference matchup.
