Miami University President Greg Crawford will earn $509,850 in salary this year, up 3 percent from his inaugural year, according to the just-out annual salary roster of Miami employees.

Additionally, the president will receive a $75,000 bonus for the year, thanks to the university Board of Trustees.

The annual performance bonus, approved by trustees in September, will be awarded after the 2017-18 year, according to Executive Assistant to the President and Secretary of the Board of Trustees Ted Pickerell. The trustees also approved a salary of $31,621 for Crawford's wife, Renate, who serves as Miami ambassador and adjunct professor of physics. Her raise was also 3 percent.

Absent his bonus, Crawford ranks as the second-highest paid Miami employee for 2017-18. Head Football Coach Chuck Martin received a 10.59 percent increase in salary this year, making his annual salary $522,300.

Following Martin in the top spot and Crawford at No. 2, the top five earners this year are Senior Vice President for Finance and Business Services and Treasurer David Creamer, Provost and Executive Vice President Phyllis Callahan and Men's Basketball Head Coach Jack Owens.

Owens signed on as the men's basketball head coach in March, taking over for John Anthony Cooper. Owens' salary, at $350,000, is nearly 39 percent more than Cooper was paid.

A new head women's basketball coach was also appointed this year. Megan Duffy will earn an annual salary of $212,136. The head women's basketball coach before her, Cleve Wright, earned $179,478, or 18.2 percent less than Duffy.

Other employees enjoyed salary increases between 1.84 percent and 51.46 percent.

One of the highest increases in pay was for Associate Provost Jeff Wanko at 51.46 percent. He is now an associate provost and professor in the Department of Teacher Education. Wanko saw a large increase because of his promotion.

Marc Rubin, interim dean for the Farmer School of Business, also got a big raise. His salary increased 15.11 percent from $265,811 to $305,987. Rubin, professor and chair for accountancy at Miami, was appointed FSB interim dean this summer, taking over when Matthew Myers left in June for Southern Methodist University. Myers, who was also a professor and the Mitchell Rales Chair, was being paid $378,270 a year when he left.
