Baseball Bat Domestic Dispute Ends With Arrest, Children Left Waiting for Family (sciotocountydailynews.com) — Scioto County deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a West Portsmouth home where a woman allegedly threatened family members with a baseball bat while children were present. She was arrested, later charged with domestic violence in Portsmouth Municipal Court, and released on her own recognizance pending a July 14 hearing, while relatives stepped in to care for the children. 
2. Juneteenth Celebration Drama Ends With Taser Complaint (sciotocountydailynews.com) — Portsmouth police documented a complaint after a woman reported another woman repeatedly sparking a Taser toward her during the city’s Juneteenth celebration at Bannon Park, then later fighting at a local hotel. No injuries or charges were reported, but the caller is considering a protection order, and officers reminded residents that threatening someone with a Taser can still lead to criminal charges.
3. Mystery Vehicle Fire Sparks Arson Investigation on Vinton Avenue (sciotocountydailynews.com) — An early-morning explosion brought Portsmouth police and firefighters to Vinton Avenue, where they found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames and heavily damaged. With ownership disputes in the background, the case has been turned over to fire investigators to determine whether the blaze was accidental or arson, and no charges have been filed yet.
4. RD3 RESULTS: 2026 MVG Metropolitan Championship (ohio.golf) — Portsmouth’s own Cameron Phillips is tied for the lead at 9-under after three rounds of the Miami Valley Metropolitan Championship at Beavercreek Golf Club, putting a local name at the top of a major regional amateur event. He shares the lead with Monclova’s Logan Sutto, with several other Ohio golfers close behind heading into Thursday’s final round.
