Bad Check Used To Rip Off Solon Store

Solon Hardware lost more than $1,000 in merchandise when a man wrote a check to a closed account.

SOLON, OH — Solon Hardware reportedly got swindled out of a string trimmer and leaf blower on June 1. The company told police a fraudulent check was used to purchase the merchandise, a fact discovered too late by store management.

A representative of the hardware store spoke to Solon Police at about 10 a.m. on June 1, telling them what happened. A man came into the store and bought the two items listed above, for $1,030.29.

After the man left, store employees discovered the check had been written on a closed account, police said. An investigation was launched by Solon Police.

The department said it has issued a warrant for Timothy Weber, 41, of Baden, Pennsylvania. He is being charged with theft, according to police.
