County Spraying for Mosquitos in Stow Wednesday Night
Sick of mosquitos ruining your backyard experience? The Summit County Health District is coming to Stow's rescue.

TheΒ Summit County Health DistrictΒ will be helping to control the pesky mosquito population by spraying in Stow Wednesday night beginning at 8:30 p.m.
TheΒ United States Environmental Protection Agency offers the following tipsΒ to keeping mosquitoes away:
- Remove their habitat, where they live and breed, by eliminating standing water. Mosquitoes often breed inside objects with standing water like rain gutters, old tires, buckets, plastic covers and toys.
- Itβs encouraged to empty bird baths, fountains, wading pools and potted plant trays at least once a week to destroy any habitats the insects might develop.
- If you have a swimming pool in your yard, keep the water treated and circulating.

- Use EPA-registered mosquito repellents and follow the directions on the label carefully.
- Β If thereβs a mosquito disease warning in effect, stay inside during the evening hours.
- Replace your outdoor lights with yellow βbugβ lights. While the yellow lights arenβt repellent, they do tend to attract fewer mosquitoes than ordinary lights.
- Check your screen windows and doors to see if they are bug tight.
