WESTLAKE, OH — Last week, we asked Westlake residents to submit anyone they felt deserved recognition for their efforts to help others during the new coronavirus outbreak. In less than 24 hours, submissions have already started rolling in.

Meet these Westlake heroes: the school district's resource officers.

Yes

What does the nominee do for work?:
During the school closure period, the officers are spending days assisting Westlake Community Services with food distribution to families experiencing food instability and are conducting well checks/learning engagement visits to families and students during distance learning.

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
Absolutely!

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?:
Westlake is so fortunate to have the SROs as resources. They go above and beyond on a regular basis to connect with students and keep everyone safe but during this pandemic, they have really stepped up to help the community. They personify the mutual investment and strength nof partnership between the City of Westlake and the school district.
