WESTLAKE, OH — Sunday will mark the last time the Westlake Christian Church, also known as the Disciples of Christ Church, will worship in its building on Hilliard Boulevard, according to the Church's monthly newsletter.

The church has owned the building, located at 25800 Hilliard Blvd, since 1957, but sold it to the Saints Peter and George Coptic Orthodox Church last year.

Starting Sunday, April 17, the Disciples Church will move its Sunday services to Dover Congregational United Church of Christ, located at 2239 Dover Center Road, also in Westlake.

"I see this arrangement as extremely positive, because it gives us the opportunity to shift our focus and energy away from building costs and maintenance toward a clearer ministry focus and vision," Westlake Christian Church's interim pastor Bill Meyer said in the newsletter.

The church will be holding its services at 9:45 a.m. in Thomas Hall at the Dover church. The United Church of Christ congregation holds will hold services at the same time in the building's sanctuary, which will allow the two congregations to meet for a joint coffee hour, according to the newsletter.

But even though the two congregations will share the same building, there are no plans to merge.

"We will maintain separate identities and separate ministries, even as we also look for ways to effectively cooperate and work together for the Work of Christ in Westlake," Meyer said in the newsletter.
