Westlake Hazardous Waste Round-Up This Week
Need to get rid of those old batteries and pesticides that have been taking up space in the garage? Sept. 19-Sept. 24 is the week to do it.

WESTLAKE, OH - It's time to get rid of that hard to dispose of hazardous waste in your house. The Westlake Service Center will be accepting a variety of chemicals and items from Sept. 19 to Sept. 24 at the Service Center, 714 Bassett Rd.
The Service Center will accept hazardous items from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday-Friday, and from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday.
The Service Center is only accepting items from individual households. Items coming from churches, businesses and other organizations will not be accepted.

The Service Center put out a flyer detailing which items it would accept and which it would not.
Acceptable items:

- Paints
- Oil or solvent based paints
- Sealers, primers, coatings, varnishes, shellacs, and polyurethane
- Paint thinner, mineral spirits, turpentine, spray paint
- Pesticides
- Pesticides (bug and rodent killers)
- Herbicides (weed killer)
- Insecticides (bug killers)
- Fungicides (fungus killers)
- Other accepted items
- Caustic household cleaners
- Automotive fluids, motor oil, car batteries
- Adhesives, roof tar, driveway sealer
- Kerosene, gasoline, lighter fluid
- Mercury, fluorescent bulbs (6 ft. length maximum)
The Service Center also listed a group of items that it would not accept, including things like latex paint, explosives, gun powder, and more. To see the full list, click here.
