The City of Westlake has cancelled the Memorial Day Parade to remain in line with guidance from public health officials that people avoid large gatherings as part of the nationwide effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Obviously, the parade has been a treasured annual event for the city for decades so this in an unfortunate development. However, the city believes this decision is in the best interest of the public’s health and well-being.
Residents are still encouraged to display their American flags and red, white and blue colors at their homes the week of May 25 in recognition of the holiday. In fact, such displays are a welcome sight any time of the year.
