• Lake County hosting Aquarius Water Treatment Plant open house (news-herald.com) — Willoughby residents can tour the Aquarius Water Treatment Plant on Oct. 3, with free admission, family activities, and a close-up look at how local drinking water is purified. The Lake County Department of Utilities will offer guided tours, demonstrations, and a touch-a-truck area, while also encouraging attendees with accessibility needs to contact organizers in advance.
   

• Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library invites patrons to take Doorstopper Challenge (news-herald.com) — Willoughby-Eastlake readers can tackle a hefty 500-page "doorstopper" between Oct. 1 and Nov. 15 for a chance to win local restaurant or bookshop gift cards. Participants may register online or at any WEPL branch and are invited to a wrap-up party Nov. 9 at the system's Euclid Avenue administrative offices.
