1. ODOT says I-680 construction is in Phase 2 (wytv.com) — Drivers in Youngstown face long-term I-680 lane and ramp closures as ODOT advances Phase 2 of a full pavement replacement between Route 193 and South Avenue. Northbound 680 will stay closed through summer 2027, but officials say the work should bring smoother, more reliable travel and fewer shutdowns once completed.
   

2. 9/11 memorial events (vindy.com) — Local residents can mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11 at several nearby ceremonies, including a remembrance walk at Youngstown State University starting at noon on Sept. 11. Additional tributes in Austintown, Howland, Vienna, and Niles offer opportunities to honor victims and first responders through memorial services, wreath placements, and a stair-climb challenge.
   

3. Local business owner graduates from Goldman Sachs business cohort (wytv.com) — A Youngstown entrepreneur is gaining national recognition for Yo! Crash, a mobile rage-room style experience she founded and continues to grow from local roots. After completing a selective Goldman Sachs Black in Business cohort, she's using new skills to expand her family-run venture while keeping its focus on emotional release and community impact in Youngstown.
   

4. Calls for better protection come after Ohio gubernatorial candidate rushed by armed man (local12.com) — An armed man allegedly rushed Ohio gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton at the Canfield Fair near Youngstown, knocking down and injuring two elderly people before security intervened; Acton was unharmed. The suspect reportedly grew up in Youngstown, and the scare is fueling bipartisan calls and proposed legislation to expand state-funded security details for major statewide candidates.
   

5. US Attorney's Office and US Marshals Service announce more than 600 arrests in northern Ohio violent crime crackdown (highlandcountypress.com) — A major multi-agency crime sweep this summer targeted violent fugitives in eight northern Ohio cities, including Youngstown, leading to 619 arrests and nearly 200 seized firearms. Youngstown Police joined federal and state partners in Operation Northern Shield, which focused on homicides, assaults, robberies, trafficking, and gun crimes, aiming to reduce summer violence across the region.
