New owners plan $25 million dollar makeover for Waterford Hotel (oklahoman.com) — A major $25 million renovation is coming to the Renaissance Waterford hotel in northwest Oklahoma City, with new owners planning to rebrand it under Marriott's Autograph Collection. The project will overhaul guest rooms, lobby, restaurant, bar, meeting spaces, and amenities to restore the Waterford as a flagship neighborhood destination. Locals can expect refreshed gathering spaces and a higher-profile hotel option close to home.
   

2. EMSAcare enrollment and opt-out window opens Sept. 1 for Oklahoma City residents (okcfox.com) — Oklahoma City residents have a one-month window starting Sept. 1 to enroll in or opt out of EMSAcare, which can cover out-of-pocket costs for EMSA ambulance and treatment-in-place services. The $3.65 monthly fee is added to city utility bills, while residents not on city utilities can enroll directly with EMSA for $45 per year.
   

3. Overnight vacant church fire in southeast Oklahoma City under investigation (news9.com) — Fire crews are investigating an overnight blaze that heavily damaged a vacant church in southeast Oklahoma City near SE 44th and Shields. Firefighters shifted to a defensive attack after flames broke through the roof, and no injuries or victims were reported as this investigation continues.
   

4. Pilgrims turn to 'red dirt Catholic' martyr as Blessed Stanley Rother story gets wide release (catholicreview.org) — Oklahoma City's connection to Blessed Stanley Rother is in the spotlight as a new documentary about the "red dirt Catholic" martyr reaches theaters nationwide. Local Archbishop Paul Coakley and pilgrims at the Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine describe how his life, ministry in Guatemala, and perseverance despite early setbacks inspire today's priests, seminarians, and laypeople. His story is resonating with Catholics far beyond Oklahoma.
