📰 News we're reading

1. Tulsa councilor proposes expanding legal resources for people facing eviction (ktul.com) — A Tulsa city councilor wants the city to help fund expanded legal services for residents facing eviction, aiming to reach more of the roughly 14,000 cases filed in Tulsa County each year. The proposal would support both tenants and low-income landlords, prioritize vulnerable households, and rely on a mix of short-term city funding and private philanthropy if the non-binding resolution advances.

2. Tulsa homeowners may be responsible for fixing sidewalks, investigation reveals details (fox23.com) — If you own a home in Tulsa, you may be legally responsible for fixing the sidewalk in front of your property, not the city. A midtown homeowner's violation notice, tight 14‑day deadline, and costly permit confusion prompted FOX23 to review city code, which confirms most sidewalks serving private property fall on owners to repair, though inspectors may show flexibility when progress is evident.

3. Tulsa Police say officer shot suspect after suspect shot and wounded another person (fox23.com) — Tulsa police say an officer shot a suspect after the suspect allegedly shot and wounded another person during a fight near East 52nd Street North and North Peoria Avenue. Both the suspect and victim were hospitalized, no officers were hurt, and investigators expect to spend significant time processing the complicated crime scene before releasing more details.

4. Neighbor raises safety concerns over parking near south Tulsa sober living home (fox23.com) — Neighbors near 73rd and Lewis in south Tulsa are raising safety concerns about cars parked along curbs and lawns near a Nu Fresh Start sober living home, saying visibility for drivers is dangerously limited. The operator has limited residents to one vehicle each and is moving extra cars, while city officials review code records and urge residents to report concerns through Tulsa's 311 Customer Care Center.

5. Greenheck Group planning to acquire former distribution center in Owasso (ktul.com) — A major manufacturing expansion just north of Tulsa could mean hundreds of new jobs and a big economic boost for the region. Greenheck Group plans to acquire the former Macy's distribution center in Owasso, investing about $300 million and creating over 700 jobs within five years. The facility will significantly expand the company's Tulsa-area footprint and support its existing local operations.
