Event Details

Disability Rights Oregon, 900 SW 5th Ave, Portland, OR, 97204

Oregon needs more Advocate VOICES for Inclusion and Accessibility, ADA and Independent Living Rights!

"Nothing About Us Without Us" Can't Happen if we don't Rally ALL of us to Speak for Ourselves and for Those Who Cannot!

Vitaly Murphy, Cascadia Coast Alliance 4 Independence

GREAT OPPORTUNITY to Have Your Voice heard! FROM Vitaly Murphy, 2026 Partners in Policymaking Graduate, DEMAC (Disability Emergency Management Advisory Council) Member since 2020

Oregon needs more Advocate VOICES for Inclusion and Accessibility, ADA and Independent Living Rights! We need More People WITH Disabilities and Disability Related Life Experiences to Speak for Themselves!

"Nothing About Us Without Us" Can't Happen if we don't Rally ALL of us to Participating Fully in Societal Policies that Affect Us:

PARTNERS IN POLICYMAKING is a Great Opportunity to Become EMPOWERED to Make a Difference!

My Father, Larry Murphy, who was a life-long Disability Advocate with cerebral palsy (power wheelchair user, among the first speech generating device users, trainer of his own service dog) graduated from the first Indiana class of PIP in 1991.

Last year, I was honored to follow in his wheeltracks, through the Disability Rights Oregon LEADERSHIP TRAINING SERIES (Partners in Policymaking) and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this Program as Life-Changing and Much-Needed, Right Now, for ALL Disability Community Members, because:

We ALL need More Tools and Opportunities to MAKE Our Own Differences, from Our Own Life Perspectives, to Protect and Expand the Rights of People with Disabilities in Oregon! We can't afford to Wait Any Longer!!!

APPLY TODAY as the Recruitment Window is Very, VERY Short!

CROSS-DISABILITY REPRESENTATION IS ESSENTIAL !!!! Last year, we had NO representative from the Blind or Deaf Communities and only one person besides myself using a Wheelchair. Most of the group were Parents rather than Self-Advocates or their Spouses, Siblings, Children or Significant Others, which significantly alters the dynamics of the process.

Please---I am asking ALL Individuals with Disabilities, their families, friends and allies, to SHARE THIS OPPORTUNITY with EVERYONE in the Entire Disability Community and their Elected Tribal and/or Government Representatives so that DISABILITY DIVERSITY can be maintained in the Class of 2027 which starts this Fall.
