Extreme Precipitation and Drought in Oregon
Presented by Dr. Erica Fleishman, Director, Oregon Climate Change Research Institute; Professor, College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Science

Historically, drought in the Pacific Northwest rarely developed after a relatively wet winter. However, a shift from rain to snow, warmer and drier springs, and more frequent heat waves are depleting moisture earlier in the year. These conditions present challenges to human health, livelihoods, and cultural identity. Please join us for a presentation and discussion of trends in regional precipitation and drought and how society may be able to adapt to these changes.

Location: Corvallis Community Center, 2601 NW Tyler Ave, Corvallis, OR 97330; also online. Please email admin@academyforlifelonglearning.org for information about attending.
