You're invited! July 2026 marks the 36th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). ODHS, the Oregon Disabilities Commission, Northwest ADA Center and Disability Rights Oregon are hosting a weekly webinar series to celebrate. Webinars will be held every Tuesday in July from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Pacific Time.
On July 14: Building inclusive and accessible emergency management systems
Panelists will discuss communication barriers, transportation needs, and gaps in pre and post disaster services for people with disabilities. Participants will learn what inclusive emergency management looks like and how to ensure everyone has equitable emergency support.
Panelists include:
- Erin Taylor, Executive Director, Upstream Access
- Danica Rice, Founder of Deaf Activities of Southern Oregon, Chair of the Oregon Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Advisory Committee
- Adam Logan, Member of the Oregon Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Advisory Committee, Chair of the Oregon Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Advisory Council Sub-Committee on Emergency Preparedness
- Dr. Daniel B. Swartz, Commissioner on the Oregon Disabilities Commission, Nationally Certified American Sign Language Interpreter, Oregon Certified Health Care Interpreter
- Christie Rudder, Commissioner, Oregon Disabilities Commission
- Amber Rawson, Recovery Chief, Oregon Department of Human Services Office of Resilience and Emergency Management
American Sign Language (ASL), Communication Access Real Time (CART) captioning, and Spanish Language translating will be provided.
