• Oregon Arts Commission Awards $150,000 in Arts Learning Grants to 15 Organizations Statewide (cascadebusnews.com) — Pendleton is getting a major boost in arts education, with $10,000 grants awarded to both the Pendleton Arts Center and Oregon East Symphony to fund hands-on book, paper, and strings programs for local kindergarteners and elementary students. These projects will bring professional artists into Pendleton classrooms, build long-term skills, and culminate in public showcases for families and the wider community.

• Several national brands in negotiations to open stores in Hermiston (eastoregonian.com) — Hermiston's push to attract more national retailers could soon benefit nearby shoppers, with consultants confirming several big brands are eyeing the city and noting Five Below is already set to open in Pendleton. The firm working with Hermiston says strong retail "leakage" data and available sites are drawing interest from grocery, discount, coffee, and soft-goods chains, potentially adding more shopping options across Eastern Oregon.
