Accused Killer Of County Weighmaster Back In Oregon

Dirck White is charged with killer Grady Waxenfelter. He was extradited from California where he had been injured in a shootout with police.

The man charged killing Clackamas County Assistant Weigh-master Grady Waxenfelter is back in Oregon to face murder charges. Dirck White arrived Thursday night from California where he had been arrested after a shootout with police.

White, 44, allegedly shot and killed Waxenfelter in Feb. 2014, when the weigh-master stopped the truck White was driving along Oregon 224.

A massive manhunt ensued but there was no sign of White. The sheriff's office said they thought that White probably thought Waxenfelter had been a police officer when he had actually been an unarmed and had just wanted to let White know he needed a license plate.

Nine months later, he surfaced.

Los Angeles Police saw him trying to break into a car. White fired at him and they fired back, striking him in the face and arm.

Last May, a jury in LA convicted him on attempted murder, assault, and other charges. He was sentenced to nearly 40 years in prison.

Clackamas County officials sought his extradition. White is making his first appearance in court on Friday.
