Barefoot Acres Sanctuary: Regenerative Agriculture is on Indiegogo!
My name is Megan Baumgarten and I am starting a regenerative agriculture organic farm in Portland, Oregon called Barefoot Acres Sanctuary.
Good morning!
My name is Megan Baumgarten and I am starting a regenerative agriculture organic farm in Portland, Oregon called Barefoot Acres Sanctuary. It would supply the public and local businesses with organic and
nutrient-dense food. The farm will specialize in improving modern agriculture, regenerating what is left of the Earth's topsoil reserves, absorbing atmospheric carbon pollution, and teaching children and adults how to live symbiotically with nature. We will be making a positive impact in the world by increasing predator-prey and pollinator species biodiversity, increasing the availability of organic produce, and empower children to appreciate the growth of their food.
Barefoot Acres will model ecological, social and economic sustainability. Regenerative agriculture and biodynamic farming can reverse damage already done to Earth, atmosphere and humanity. We will be carbon negative by increasing the carbon content of the soil every year, not using heavy machinery, absorb carbon dioxide from Earth's atmosphere. There will be absolutely no toxic run-off into the water supplies and oceans
because will not be using pesticides or synthetic fertilizers of any kind. The primary approach for farm operations will be from the research and positive results on regenerative agriculture done by Singing Frogs Farm in California, Polyface Farms in Virginia, the Rodale Institute in Pennsylvania, Regeneration International, and The Gerson Institute.

The farm will use methods like no-till soil care, compost instead of synthetic fertilizers, perennial hedgerows, and create wildlife friendly habitats for pollinators, predators, and prey to all thrive. We will strive to have a large community outreach as well as be a domestic and international education facility for people striving to make a change in their farming environment. We have not hit the limit of irreversible damage yet where
resources should go to finding alternative methods to continue growing food the way we have been. Our time, efforts, research, and resources need to go to finding and implementing alternative methods that improve modern agriculture to grow organic, nutrient-dense food in order to sustain the health and well-being of humanity. This farm is a step in that direction. We can save the world, one farm at a time.
The four main goals in our mission for Barefoot Acres are:

1. Healthy People: I aim to foster physical and emotional well being with everyone who is involved with our farm. Our produce will not aggravate disease and cancer, but instead help to treat or cure it. I also strive to become a domestic and international education facility for people and organization striving to make a change in their farming environment.
2. Healthy Food: By increasing the mineral content of the soil every year with compost, it will increase the currently diminished nutrient content of produce. Barefoot Acres will grow nutrient-dense and organic fruit, vegetables, herbs, raw honey, flowers, nuts, eggs and exotic fruit to increase the availability of organic produce." Organic is the fastest growing sector of the U.S. food industry. Organic food sales increase by double digits annually, far outstripping the growth rate for the overall food market. Now, an unprecedented and conclusive study links economic health to organic agriculture." - Organic Trade Association
3. Healthy Planet: We will regenerate soil bacteria life, absorb carbon pollution from the atmosphere, increase the predator-prey and pollinator species biodiversity, use no pesticides of any kind, and have zero toxic run-off into the water supplies and oceans.
4. Healthy Community: I intend to have a large community outreach by organizing and implementing organic school gardens and educational programs. This will give children a chance to be empowered when it comes to their health and wellness. I would also like to maximize the inclusion of the surrounding community by working closely with police, fire, EMS, and military to help provide the organic substance necessary to keep us safe.
I am proud to announce that I have launched a truly incredible Indiegogocrowdfunding campaign that started on November 28, 2016 and will run until January 16, 2017 (50 days) to raise money to start Barefoot Acres Sanctuary! Over the past month of the pre-launch, I have emailed over 250 people from various local and national media outlets, websites, blogs, organic food companies, local businesses in the Portland area, local
organic restaurants, and super markets in the area to announce the start of this project.
To show my appreciation to the company, corporate, and foundation sponsors- I will be advertising their logo in a special "Donor" section on the Indiegogo campaign page, the Barefoot Acres Sanctuary website, Facebook, and Instagram. There will also be an option to create a special stepping stone on the property to honor their love and invaluable support in making this dream of saving the world become a reality. As we intend on being a teaching facility for both local schools, domestic and international organizations, the stepping stones walkway will be highly visible.
This campaign has been very well received on social media, and is being referred to various networking groups! Our project truly has endless reaches as I have people close to me spreading the word to groups of influential people. I would be incredibly thankful for any support via publishing an article and/or sponsorship that you could provide during is time.
