Oregon law permits use of deadly force against another person if that person is burglarizing or trying to burglarize your home.

Wilson, who was hospitalized for the gunshot wound, appeared last week in court where he pleaded not guilty.

The district attorney's office is still investigating a similar incident that happened days later.

In that case, a mother returning home with her children found an armed man in one of their bedrooms.

She shot and killed him.
