Patch: Tell Patch a little about your organization!

Meals on Wheels: Since 1970 Meals on Wheels People has provided a nutritional and social lifeline for older adults through 30 meal sites in Multnomah, Washington and Clark counties and Meals on Wheels delivery to home bound seniors. With the help of 6,000 volunteers, the nonprofit organization now serves5,700 meals daily and 1.3 million meals each year.

Patch: How does your organization help to strengthen the local community?

Meals on Wheels: We allow frail, home bound seniors to remain independent and living in their own homes and provide active seniors with volunteer opportunities.

Patch: What is the biggest struggle your organization faces?

Meals on Wheels: Our two greatest needs are daily volunteers to help deliver meals and raising enough funds to provide meals to every senior who requests them without instituting a waiting list.

Patch: What do you hope for the future of your nonprofit?

Meals on Wheels: That we can continue to meet the growing need for senior nutrition in our community as baby boomers age.
