- Here's a follow up story in the arrests of the Mt. Tabor arson suspects. Two teens linked to at least three dozen fires set at Mount Tabor during the peak of Portland’s fire season were released without bail Monday after prosecutors said their crimes weren’t violent or threatening physical harm. Prosecutors are now pursuing a single count of first-degree arson against each man, while all charges have been dropped against a third 18-year-old, Wayne Chen. (OregonLive)
- If you're one of the tens of thousands of people who got their power shut off by PGE or Pacific Power, you might not be very happy with them right now. So, you'll probably be less than pleased to hear that such shut offs may become a common occurrence. PGE said, as hot dry summers become the norm, so will preventative outages, as one of their tools in mitigating wildfires. Drew Hanson with Pacific Power expressed similar views and says he feels that the shut offs were the right move. (KOIN.com)
- People have started to move into The Parkrose Community Village that has opened in NE Portland. It is run by a nonprofit called WeShine and takes a slightly different approach to housing the homeless than other outdoor shelters like the city’s Safe Rest Villages. The village looks to provide a low barrier to entry. Drug and alcohol use is not prohibited — in fact, it is allowed inside each pod. “If you want to get people off the street you can’t set up a bunch of extra hoops for them to go through,” Jan McManus, who runs WeShine, explained. - Oh, that's gotta sting! The Portland Firefighters Association, the union representing Portland firefighters, has voted to endorse Rene Gonzalez over incumbent City Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty. That’s a remarkable decision because Hardesty is the commissioner in charge of Portland Fire & Rescue. (Willamette Week)
- Good news for Portland drivers, gas prices continue to fall, matching the national trend for cheaper prices at the pump. The average price of gas in Portland has dropped 5.6 cents a gallon since last week to $4.77, according to GasBuddy’s latest survey of stations in Portland. That’s 20.5 cents lower than a month ago, but still $1.01 higher than a year ago. Nationally, the average cost of gas is $3.67 a gallon, a decline of 7.6 cents since last week. (KATU)

- You say you want comedy, but want to stay on the West side? Well, how about Comedy Night at the Pickle Jar Clubhouse. Featuring comedy from Portland's Funniest Person Finalist, Tony Ward, along with Lance Edwards and Pickles on-field host Jeremiah Coughlan. Hosted by Delaney Malone. 8 - 10 p.m.

- Prost! September marks the start of Oktoberfest, so where can you go for a bratwurst and a stein of doppelbock? KOIN 6 knows what you're in the mood for and has compiled a list of Oktoberfest events taking place in Oregon and Southwest Washington. (KOIN)
- Hey, Oregon, we may get to see another solar eclipse next year! Unlike the 2017 total solar eclipse, the entirety of the sun won’t be obscured by the moon. Instead, a bright sun ring will follow along the edges of the moon. This is known as an annular eclipse. In the United States, the eclipse will pass from Oregon to Texas on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023. To see it, you'll have to travel a bit south of Portland. Think Eugene, but what a reason to take a road trip! (KPTV)
- You may have heard the term "quiet quitting." It refers to the practice of doing the bare minimum to maintain their employment or their actual job and nothing more. Well the website schoolauthority.org is calling Oregon "the top 'quiet quitting' state" based on the volume of tweets about it. (The Oregonian)
- It's great to have a lot of nice clothes, but it's sometimes hard to balance that with an eco-friendly lifestyle. The waste in the industry, questionable dyes and materials and the carbon footprint of textile manufacturing make one hesitate when shopping for clothes. Enter Unless Collective, a Portland-based start-up that features designs from up-and-coming local artists that are made with water-based dyes and inks and that are 100 percent plant-based. All of its products are made to biodegrade—but only when you’re done with them, of course. (Portland Monthly)

That's your day, Portland. Take it and run, but not so far that you don't come back tomorrow and miss me talking about this city that I love.
