Vancouver veteran Stewart Bauer's dedication to country and community has earned him recognition in the national Veterans of Foreign Wars #StillServing campaign. The campaign honors veterans who continue to serve in their community after active duty.

Bauer served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years and after retiring from the military he, like many veterans, felt the need to continue serving. He joined the Vancouver VFW Post 7824 in Vancouver and has dedicated his time to helping veterans and his community.

Bauer is the Vancouver VFW Post’s service officer helping veterans apply for and get VA benefits, webmaster and Facebook page administrator and adjutant in charge of all personnel matters. He is active in the VFW Buddy Poppies, a program that supports disabled and needy veterans in VA hospitals, educates sailors at the Naval Operations Service Center in Portland, Oregon on post-military benefits and how the VFW can help them and is active in the Wreaths Across America program happening now. Additionally, Bauer is working with the Battle Ground School District superintendent on ways to support the JROTC program and become more involved in all the schools (K-12).
