Vancouver VFW Post Chosen as #StillServing Post of the Month

VFW Post 7824 in Vancouver was chosen out of all VFW Posts in the country as the Veterans of Foreign Wars #StillServing Post of the Month. The national #StillServing campaign honors veterans who continue to serve in their community after active duty.

Over the past two years, VFW Post 7824 worked around pandemic restrictions to find new ways to serve those in need. Post members spent thousands of hours volunteering at area locations, including the Vancouver VA hospital, partnered with the Washington State Attorney General’s office to provide pro bono legal services to those struggling financially and in December donated $500 in support of Wreaths Across America.

In addition to the larger initiatives, the Post remains intent on helping individuals solve personal issues. When a veteran recovering from addiction struggled to find a home for her family a Post member connected her with an organization to help secure a place to live, and when an elderly, wheelchair-bound veteran could no longer enter or leave his home safely Post members jumped into action. After one phone call from the veteran a team was at his home building a ramp.

For 2022, the Post is revitalizing its youth education and engagement efforts through teaching K-12 students about our nation’s history and values as well as ways they can serve.
