• Smoke plume rises east of Prineville as Ochoco crews light prescribed burn (centraloregondaily.com) — Residents in and around Prineville may see and smell smoke as the U.S. Forest Service conducts a 1,900-acre prescribed burn about 23 miles east of town in the Ochoco National Forest. Crews expect operations and temporary camping closures in the Howard Elliott Johnson Project Area to continue through October, as they work to reduce wildfire risk after this summer's massive Rowe Creek Complex fire.
