Officials say the site offers a tangible connection for both longtime residents and younger public safety trainees to reflect on lives lost and acts of service.
   

2. Three Teens Arrested; Guns Recovered During DUII Stop In Northeast Salem (kxl.com) — Salem police arrested three teenagers after a DUII stop near Silverton Road and Lansing Avenue NE led to the discovery of two loaded handguns, one reportedly stolen. An 18-year-old from Jefferson and two Salem teens now face multiple charges, with one lodged in Marion County Jail and a 15-year-old taken to juvenile detention.
   

3. Thousands of birds descend on West Coast church in viral video (amedpost.com) — Thousands of Vaux's swifts are swirling into the chimney of Salem First United Methodist Church at dusk, creating a dramatic "swift'nado" that's drawing neighbors, families, and Willamette University students. The annual fall migration spectacle, peaking in September, turns an ordinary church chimney into a vital roost and one of Salem's most unusual evening sights.
   

4. Embracing All Facets of Who You Are – A Guided Meditation (salemreporter.com) — A small-group guided meditation is being offered this Sunday at Journeys, a Center for Your Soul on Salem-Dallas Highway in west Salem, limited to just 12 participants. For $25, attendees will explore mindset shifts, receive take-home reflection materials, and are asked to bring a mat or blanket, journal, and water while avoiding any mind-altering substances beforehand.
   

5. Flynn Creek Circus presents 'The Cricket & the Wren' (salemreporter.com) — Flynn Creek Circus is bringing its story-driven show "The Cricket & the Wren" to a big-top tent at Riverfront Park in downtown Salem this October, with both family performances and adults-only nights. Tickets start at $27, with camp programs for kids 7–15 and free parking at 200 Water St NE, making advance online booking strongly recommended.
