Abington 7th Grader Named State Bee Finalist

An Abington Junior High School 7th grader has been named a semifinalist in National Geographic's State Bee.

ABINGTON, PA -- An Abington Junior High School 7th grader has been named a semifinalist in National Geographic's State Bee competition, the school district said.

Anthony Snyder will compete in the second level of the National Geographic Bee competition in Harrisburg on March 31.

Anthony won both his class geography bee and then the school bee to get to this point, the district said.

The state champion of the March 31 event will advance to the National Geography Bee in Washington, D.C.

State champions receive $100 and numerous other prizes, while the national champion wins a $50,000 college scholarship and a paid expedition to the Galapagos Islands.
