Nurse James Close, a father of two, 'shook and shuddered' at his arraignment on charges he secretly videotaped female patients, report says.

A nurse from Abington accused of secretly filming eight female patients in Bucks County "shook and shuddered" through his video arraignment earlier this week, Philly.com reports.
James Close, an employee at Penn Medicine Dermatology in the Floral Vale professional complex in Lower Makefield, was arraigned on 43 charges Tuesday morning.
Daily News Columnist Ronnie Polaneczky said Close, a father of two young children, appeared anxious and terrified in his video arraignment from Bucks County Prison.

Here's an excerpt from her column, published Wednesday:
There were 48 counts, and with each, Close – sallow in yellow prison garb – seemed to sink deeper into himself, rocking forward and back, rubbing his forehead, breathing rapidly.
When asked about his children – a son, 16, and daughter, 7 – I thought he would faint. The look in his eyes – shame, terror, both? – made my heart hurt.
Close, an Abington resident, was originally charged Feb. 13 after a 17-year-old patient noticed she was being videotaped while undressed for a skin treatment.

Since then, authorities said they uncovered 18 videos depicting seven additional victims. The videos, ranging from less than 30 seconds to nearly four minutes each, all showed women in various states of undress at the Lower Makefield practice, according to police.
According to an affidavit, Close's voice is audible in most of the videos. In many of the videos, you can see his face as well as various parts of women's bodies. All of the videos were made without consent, authorities said.
Close remains in Bucks County prison after being unable to make bail, which was set at 10 percent of $150,000. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 21.
