Beyond the Uniform Seeks Veterans and Service Members Who Continue Serving Their Communities

After serving 23 years in the U.S. Army, I know that service does not always end when the uniform comes off.

Throughout our communities, veterans and currently serving military members continue to volunteer, mentor others, lead local organizations, support families, advocate for important causes, and quietly show up whenever someone needs help. Those are the stories I want to recognize through Beyond the Uniform.

Beyond the Uniform is a regional recognition program I created through my company, Beyond the Castle Travel. It is open to veterans and currently serving U.S. military service members who live in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, or Maryland.

One selected honoree will receive a Celebrity Cruises vacation for two, including airfare and hotel accommodations.

I am specifically looking for someone whose commitment to serving others continues beyond their regular military responsibilities. That service may take many forms, including volunteer work, mentorship, community leadership, charitable efforts, advocacy, coaching, helping other veterans, supporting military families, or simply being the person others can consistently rely on.

The impact does not have to come from running a large organization or receiving public recognition. Some of the most meaningful service happens quietly and consistently.

It may be a veteran who mentors young people, a service member who volunteers in the community, someone who helps fellow veterans navigate difficult transitions, or a person who uses their own experience to make life better for others.

Friends, relatives, coworkers, neighbors, community leaders, and fellow service members may submit nominations. Self-nominations are also welcome.
