Man Toting AR-15 In Abington Was Not Arrested: Police Chief

Abington's police chief issued a statement Thursday squashing false rumors that the man toting an AR-15 around town had been arrested.

ABINGTON, PA — Abington's police chief issued a statement Thursday squashing false rumors that the man toting an AR-15 around town had been arrested.

Chief Patrick Molloy said that several residents have falsely reported that the man, who police said was attempting to bait officers into a debate about the 2nd Amendment, had been taken into custody.

"It was reported by a resident that this individual was arrested and released by this department today. This fact is simply not true. We continue to investigate this matter and collect as much information as we can," Molloy said in his statement, restating that there is no threat to the Abington community.
