ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — A beloved bicyclist in eastern Montgomery County is being mourned after he died from injuries suffered after striking a pothole.
Joseph Kenas, 69, of Meadowbrook in Abington Township, crashed after hitting a pothole while riding his bike on Morris Road in Fort Washington near the Germantown Academy last Tuesday, NBC 10 Philadelphia reported.

Kenas' family told NBC10 that he was compassionate, social and an avid cyclist. The father of three and grandfather of five was biking down his normal route, his family said.
"Joe loved being outdoors. He was an avid bicyclist and skier, and some of his happiest moments were spent riding, skiing, and spending summers at the lake cabin where his dad raised him, he raised his sons, and his grandkids now enjoy too. He was the leader of our family, showing us every day what it means to live with kindness, love, selflessness, and presence. To us, he was more than a father. He was a best friend who was always there, through our highs and lows, no matter the circumstances," according to his obituary by the George Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.
