You Belong at LaMott Fire Company in 2022. Resolve to Volunteer

As 2021 draws to a close, it is the perfect time to make New Year’s resolutions that will change your life and the lives of others. Volunteering for the LaMott Fire Company is a great way to make your community safer and help your neighbors on their worst days.

“With willing hearts” that “hasten to assist,” LaMott Fire Company has protected the residents and property of Cheltenham Township since 1910. The Township is known as one of the first inclusive and diverse suburban communities, and LaMott Fire’s long history proudly reflects this tradition.

No two emergencies are ever the same and LaMott Fire is prepared to handle them all. LaMott Fire provides their volunteer firefighters with extensive, free training for structure fires, car accidents, gas fires, and more. LaMott Fire responds to some 200 calls per year.

Doug Tedeschi recently received his Firefighter 1 national certification. Says Doug, “working closely with others of different backgrounds offers an opportunity to improve my leadership and team building skills.”

“There’s no better feeling than giving back to the community by helping those in need,” says Dave Schwartz, LaMott Fire’s President.

And the bonds that build among volunteers are like no others. Many say that they have gained a second family.

LaMott Fire has a Live-In Program for volunteers who join the department with Firefighter 1 certifications. Eligible firefighters are provided a rent-free apartment at the Lynnewood Gardens Apartment Complex in exchange for responding to 65% of calls for service, weekly training, and additional administrative duties. They can also receive I sign-up bonus up to $2,000.

For individual ready to serve this mission, LaMott Fire invites you to join them. It is seeking dedicated individuals to serve as volunteer firefighters and/or administrative members.

Members in the firefighter role are primarily responsible for fire suppression and rescue roles. As such, they are provided with extensive training and state-of-the-art gear to handle the rigors of the fire service. All training/certifications are offered free of charge.

Members in administrative roles are just as critical to the fire service. Positions and committees such as President, Treasurer, House Committee, Uniform Committee, and Canvassing Committee are crucial to the day-to-day operations that keep the LaMott Fire Company operational.
