Coastal Storms Bring 2 Chances Of Snow To Philly Region This Week
The track of a pair of coastal storms could have significant impacts on the Philadelphia region, forecasters said.

Another significant dose of winter weather could be on tap for the Philadelphia region this week, as two separate systems could bring multiple chances of snow over the coming days, according to forecasters.
The first storm will arrive at some point on Thursday, as a coastal storm develops and impacts the region.
The strength and nature of the storm remain highly variable, forecasters warn, and the position of the jet stream will determine whether the region gets a little rain, a dusting of snow, or a significant storm.

"A storm that tracks farther east would likely head out to sea, bringing snow showers to parts of the interior Northeast and mid-Atlantic states," Accuweather notes. "In another scenario, a storm that tracks closer to the coast could spread snow across much of the mid-Atlantic and southeastern New England late in the week."
The amount of cold air and moisture available after the first storm will further determine how the next front develops, forecasters said. However, there's a chance of another bout of significant winter weather at some point in the weekend, likely on Sunday.

"If the storm on Friday is strong and hugs the coast with snow, it would likely push the next storm out to sea later this weekend,” Accuweather meteorologist Paul Pastelok said in a statement. "However, if the first storm is weak and moves out to sea, the second storm could become stronger and track much farther north."
Because of the high variability, forecasters have not yet released predictions of potential accumulation totals. There is also a possibility that the region gets no snow at all, they said.
Meanwhile, strong wind gusts will swing through parts of the region on Monday, with sustained winds of 10 miles per hour and gusts up to 35 miles per hour, forecasters said.
That will plummet wind chills down into the 20s.
