PA Boy Vanishes In Ocean During Jersey Shore Class Trip: Authorities
The teen's grandma told Action News that he's a special needs student.
WILDWOOD, NJ — A Philadelphia 14-year-old boy is missing after visiting Wildwood on a class trip, according to authorities and reports.
A Wildwood police officer was flagged down in the area of Schellenger Avenue and the beach Monday at about 1:30 p.m. for the report of swimmers in distress, according to a joint news release from Wildwood police, firefighters and the beach patrol. Other authorities were also dispatched.
A police officer entered the water and helped three swimmers out, authorities said. However, a 14-year-old boy was still missing.

Numerous rescue swimmers, fire department boats, the U.S. Coast Guard and New Jersey State Police joined the search.
After about two hours of searching, beachside efforts ceased, but marine and aviation units continued, authorities said.

One swimmer was hospitalized and is currently stable, while two others were treated on the scene.
No lifeguards were on duty at the time.
The boy was identified as Davoris Carter, according to 6abc Action News.
Carter is from Philadelphia, according to Penn Live.
His grandmother, Kenya Pippen, told Action News he was on a class trip with fellow special needs students. Each of the students has a one-on-one due to being special needs, she told the outlet.
She said that his swim trunks were found on the beach and that he had entered the water fully clothed.
